Having been awarded the title of European Capital of Culture in 2013, Marseille is preparing to become the first French city to host Manifesta in 2020, one of the largest contemporary art biennials in the world. In 2024, it will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Rugby World Cup in 2023. All of these major events bear witness to the influence and vitality of Marseille on the international stage.
